Local Mom Helps Us Stay Healthy

After moving to Rye nine years ago with her family, Nina Cheigh, a doctor of Pharmacy, went through some health challenges. These challenges led to an "a-ha" moment for her. Dr. Cheigh realized that in all her years of education and training, she was never taught HOW to be a healthy, just how to treat a disease.
The years that followed were a time of self-discovery, reading and experimenting with various diet theories. Dr. Cheigh is now in good health and was even able to run two marathons in the past two years. Having achieved such tremendous triumphs for her own wellbeing, Dr. Cheigh realized that she could help others with their own path to good health as a Health Advisor.
Dr. Cheigh works with clients individually to:
- Discuss current health, including diet, exercise, sleep habits, stress management, medications, vitamins and over-the-counter medications
- Help analyze and explain blood work
- Give guidance on health goals
- Discuss meal planning and teach simple, healthful cooking techniques
- Discuss the nutrients in food and how they are metabolized into our bodies.
"I believe what I am doing is important because unfortunately in today's healthcare system, it is rare to have the time to speak to your doctor or healthcare provider about diet and lifestyle. There is no argument that a healthy lifestyle can help reduce or even eliminate chronic diseases, which account for 75% of today's documented conditions. With this rapid rise in chronic disease is also the booming pharmaceutical industry. I feel passionate about [my work as a Health Advisor] because prevention can reduce or eliminate the need for medications, which all have long term side effects."
