County Waste Management Helps Collect 900 Pounds of Food for the Community Center of Northern Westchester

County Waste Management recently participated in a fundraiser at Grand Prix New York (GPNY) in Mount Kisco, NY to benefit The Community Center of Northern Westchester. The goal of the event was to help raise food and money to aid those in need during the holiday season.
GPNY invited patrons and businesses of Westchester County to lend their support in any way they could for a day including contests, drink specials and visits from local sports guests. PGA Pro Brian Crowell and Mark Jeffers hosted a special 2-hour "Clubhouse Holiday Special Sponsored by 2UNDR" that aired lived from the event on AM 1490 WGCH. Miss Teen Westchester 2015, Jordan Decker, was also on hand to donate food and show support.
The fundraiser received an excellent turnout with so many contributing to the cause. In total, $1,450 was raised and 900 pounds of food was collected. The companies that participated in donating food and money were A.G. Williams Painting Company, Corporate Audio Visual Services, County Waste Management, Diamond Properties, Events To Remember, Grand Prix New York, Home Green Advantage, Rey Insurance, Tompkins Excavating Corp, and Venator Sales Group.
“We are based out of Bedford Hills and we felt very strongly about helping out a local charity,” said Ralph Mancini, President of County Waste Management. “The Community Center does great work and we are thrilled that the event went so well.”
The Community Center provides food and clothing to nearly 2,000 households in need in 37 Northern Westchester communities. They offer practical tools to help neighbors reach self-sufficiency, such as job counseling, construction skills, computer and English language classes, health screenings, nutrition workshops, and guidance in accessing other services. During the holiday season, they share special foods for the holidays, as well as new children’s pajamas.
"The Community Center is grateful to the folks at Grand Prix and AM 1490 WGCH for helping us spread the word about the Center and the need for food donations to help our neighbors who don’t have enough to eat, " said Sherry Wolf, Executive Director, Community Center of Northern Westchester. "We would also like to thank County Waste Management for their generous food donation."
The Community Center of Northern Westchester is located at 84 Bedford Road in Katonah, New York 10536 and can be reached at 914-232-6572.
