Special 2-Night Event at Theater Barn - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!

The Ridgefield Theater Barn is thrilled to present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a special fundraising event, June 24th and 25th at 7:30pm. Originally produced in New Milford at 32 Below in early May, this event will reunite the incredibly talented critically-praised cast of young performers, with Missy Hanlon and Stefano Pena, the directors of the Theater Barn Kids’ program, joining the production in special guest roles for this fun family-friendly two-night event.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a long one-act musical comedy conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, and additional material by Jay Reiss.  The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School.  Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.  The 2005 Broadway production earned good reviews and box office success and was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning two, including Best Book.

Under the direction of Beth Bonnabeau (who also plays a role), the production features the local talent of Garrett Amill, Kennison Amill, Jack Harding, Josie Harding, Molly Farrell-Savage, and Dominick Ventrella, and is stage-managed by Helen Redmond.

Tickets are $25, with a 20% discount for families of 4 or more (no code necessary, automatically applied at point of sale).  Seating is cabaret style and patrons are encouraged to bring food and drink to enjoy before the show.  Doors open one hour prior to curtain.  Baked goods and coffee will be available for a suggested donation.  Reservations and more information available at www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org.
