Milford PD Make Arrest in Arson Case

On December 8, 2015 Milford Fire and Police responded to a structure fire at 31 South Wind Lane, Milford. A joint investigation conducted by the Milford Fire Department, Milford Police Department, and Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit revealed that the origin of the fire was incendiary.

As the investigation continued, evidence was developed that the fire was intentionally set. Through investigation, it was discovered on a previous occasion, the gas stove was left on and a candle was unattended and burning inside the residence. The fire on December 8th was started in a bedroom in the center of the room by an undetermined source of ignition.

Subsequent to the investigation, Milford Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the homeowner, Douglas McDonald (W/M, 35) 43 High Meadow Lane, Bristol CT. On April 18th Milford Police took custody of MacDonald. MacDonald posted $50,000 bond and is due in Milford Superior Court on May 17, 2016.

MacDonald is charged with the following:

Arson 1st, Reckless Endangerment 1st, and Criminal Mischief 1st .
