Bridges Healthcare’s 33rd Annual Folks on Spokes & Step Forward ride and walk for mental health is planned for Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 8:00am at Fowler Field in Milford. Hundreds of cyclists and walkers will participate in this family-friendly event to raise funds and awareness for local mental health and addiction recovery services.

The event, one of the longest running charity rides in CT, features 5, 10, 20, or 40-mile supported routes for cyclists or a 5K for walkers--all are along the scenic CT shoreline. During the event, we host a meaningful Remembrance Ceremony where participants can honor the lives of loved ones lost to addiction, suicide or other mental health related issues or honor those who are still with us on their own journeys. Pre-event registration fees are $45 per cyclist, $30 per walker, and $15 for kids ages 7- 17. Children ages six and under are free. Day-of fees are $50 per cyclist and $35 per walker. Registration includes a free t-shirt, boxed lunch from Subway, music, and scenic views along our routes. New this year, the event will also include therapy animals, face painting, games for all ages, mission-focused interactive art, and complimentary relaxation therapies for post-ride or walk recovery for participants!

Participants can ride or walk individually or as a team. Fundraising is encouraged and free registration is offered to each attendee who commits to raising $100 by September 29, 2024. More than 300 riders, walkers, and volunteers are expected to attend to support Bridges’ community mental health programs and services.

The goal is to raise $50,000 to support Bridges Healthcare’s local mental health and addiction recovery programs, which help adults, children and families move toward healing, recovery and renewal. Last year, Bridges reached over 8,000 individuals through outpatient, in-home, community outreach and coordinated prevention efforts.
