
The 50th Annual Milford Oyster Festival is set to take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in downtown Milford. This milestone event will feature a variety of activities, including live entertainment, food vendors, and the festival’s famous oyster shucking contest. With streets in the Milford Center area closed to traffic, attendees can enjoy the festivities in a pedestrian-friendly environment. The Milford Police Department has provided important information on traffic restrictions, parking, and shuttle services to ensure a smooth experience for citizens, merchants, and visitors.
The Milford Police Department provides the following information to assist citizens, merchants, and visitors with traffic, parking, and other matters related to the festival:
- Milford Center Area Access:
- Restricted from 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM. The following streets will be closed or have limited access:
- North Broad St
- South Broad St
- Depot St
- New Haven Ave (from Gulf St to Daniel St)
- Prospect St (from Cherry St to New Haven Ave)
- River St (from Darina Pl to New Haven Ave)
- Armory La
- Factory La
- Shipyard La
- Center St
- High St (from Jepson Dr to Helwig St)
- Railroad Station Parking:
- Access for railroad patrons will be allowed only from High Street. An officer will be present at this traffic closure.
- On-Street Parking:
- Restricted within festival boundaries from 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM.
- Handicapped Parking:
- Available at the following locations:
- Milford Senior Center
- Harborside Middle School
- Wasson Field parking lot (adjacent to West Main Street)
- Senior and handicap-accessible shuttle transportation will be provided to and from these locations, with pick-up and drop-off at Milford Fire HQ across from the Library.
- City Boat Launch Access:
- Restricted from 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM on Shipyard Lane. The City Boat Launch will be closed from Friday, August 16, 2024, at 12:00 PM to Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM.
- Festival Restrictions:
- Pets and coolers are not allowed within the festival boundaries.
- Shuttle Buses:
- Shuttle services will be provided for festival patrons, operating from 9:30 AM - 7:00 PM. The shuttle buses will pick up and drop off at the Milford Senior Center, with locations at Jonathan Law High School and Platt Technical High School.
