Gates Battle of the Bands
Gates Restaurant will be kicking off 2023 in style by hosting their fourth ‘Battle of the (cover) Bands’ and once again raising money for Meals on Wheels.
This exciting event is hosted by radio presenter Jon Kamal, generously sponsored by Karl Chevrolet, and produced by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events. The competition is fierce but friendly and attracts talented bands from all over.
The weekly heats see two bands play, and at the end of both sets, the audience cheer. Emcee Jon Kamal will then decide which one will be put through to the final based on song choice, energy, talent, and crowd screams.

Saturday, Jan 21st Out on Bail vs Captain Obvious Andy 8pm & 9:30pm
Saturday, Jan 28th Alter Ego Band vs Rock Paper Soul 8pm & 9:30pm
The four finalists will play against each other for the ticketed final on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, from 8pm. After 2 bands have been eliminated, the 2 remaining bands must play the SAME song. It is then that the guest judges will decide on the winning band. Guest Judges include renowned author James Frey and Brian Fox, from School of Rock, New Canaan.
In March 2022 Jay Luther, Owner Gates Restaurant presented a $4k check to Martha Lane from Meals on Wheels. Tickets for the 2023 final are $20 per person and will be available to purchase on Gates website.
