Deb Hecht, the owner of New Canaan's Goldenberry Gourmet Gifts, the shop that offers unique British, Irish, European, and American goods, food items, and more, has announced plans to retire.
Hecht opened the shop in 1990 bringing hard-to-find items from the British Isles and imported foods from Europe to Fairfield County. Through the years, Hecht has been a huge community supporter and advocate. Prior to finding a home on Elm Street in New Canaan, Goldenberry was located in Wilton.
She posted on social media today, "It is with mixed feelings that we share our plans to retire Goldenberry Gourmet Gift. We LOVE what we do. Getting to know our wonderful customers who have become true friends over the years has been a joy-filled journey. We will miss seeing our very special long-time and loyal Goldenberry customers as well as the new friends we've made since coming to Elm Street, but with the end of our current lease, it seems the right time to move on to our next chapter."
Goldenberry is currently offering 50% savings on gifts, children's and home related merchandise, and 25% off food items, including freezer items, while we have stock.
Some display pieces including bookcases, cabinets and shelving are for sale.
Fingers crossed we will see Goldenberry "pop up" soon. Hecht says, "We are considering a pop up Christmas shop, so stay tuned for more info about this in the future!
