Throwback Thursday Features "Frank Sacco and the New Fairfield Police Department"

Picture is of Frank Sacco the first full time police officer in New Fairfield in the first town owned police car.
Before 1968 the police department consisted of 1-2 part time constables who used their own vehicles while on patrol. In 1957 a resident state trooper became the town's primary law enforcement, working with the constables. For many years the police headquarters was in the basement of town hall. In July 1989 a new Police Station was dedicated, which is located on Ball Pond Road next to Company A Firehouse. The town police department still consists of local police officers working under a state trooper.
