At a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, the Board voted 5-4 to close John Pettibone elementary school at the end of the next school year, much to the dismay of many local residents. The Board is set to create a subcommittee that will assess what to do with the property: tear down the existing building, sell the property? After the school's closure, the Board will rearrange grades and students would be redistricted.
