Two Yale Grads Win an Oscar

Lupita Nyong'o won an Oscar Sunday night for her portrayal of Patsey in "12 Years a Slave". Lupita graduated from the Yale School of Drama acting program in 2012. In her acceptance speech Lupita gave a nod to fellow actors in her class, dubbed The Wilsons.  "My friends The Wilson, this one's for you." She won the role of enslaved Patsey before she even graduated, one of 1000 actresses who auditioned for the role.

Another Yale graduate, Roberto Lopez, who graduated in 1997, won an Oscar for his original song "Let It Go" from the hit Disney movie Frozen. The song has also won Emmy, Tony, and Grammy awards.

The 86th Academy Awards aired live on ABC from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, and was hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
