Eleanor C. Mayer, age 82 of Newtown died peacefully Saturday January 5th at her home.
Mayer was the owner of Cherry Grove farm located at the intersection of Palestine, Hundred Acres and Platts Hill Road, in Newtown,one of the last privately owned farms in the area. A history of the farm, "Eleanor Mayer's History of Cherry Grove Farm Three Generations on a Connecticut Farm"
by Andrea Zimmerman was published some years ago by the Newtown Historical Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church Thursday at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Huntingtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm
