Newtown’s Victory Garden is Growing!

The Victory Garden is doubling in size and it's moving to a quieter spot at Fairfield Hills. Did you know that its bounty is donated to local food banks? And that the gardeners are volunteers?

Newtown resident Harvey Pessin, pictured here at his Main Street home, is passionate about the garden and is excited to get started. Once Park & Rec bulldozes, backhoes and rototills, a contractor will finish the fence and the planting can begin.

Harvey wants your help spreading the good news, "Tell your friends and neighbors, or anybody who may have an interest in giving back to our community."

The garden, located in a sunny spot near Mile Hill Road, will have room for a fruit orchard, berry bushes, and veggies. If you'd like to sow some seeds of kindness, there's room for you, too.

By the way, Harvey's got a Facebook page and a website for the VG. However, he just installed Wordsmith, and it's giving him a hard time. If you're a techie and you think you can help, shoot Harvey an email: Harve9@yahoo.com.
