In a thrilling seven game series, the Miami Heat took the final game over the San Antonio Spurs to repeat as NBA Champions with a 95-88 victory.

The game remained close throughout but LeBron James, with the Spurs daring him to shoot at times, made big shots down the stretch and finished with a game high 37 points and a second straight NBA Finals MVP trophy to go along with his back-to-back regular season MVP honors; James is the third player all-time to win both Finals MVP and NBA MVP in consecutive years. Dwayne Wade also chipped in with 23 points.

The Spurs lost their first Finals under coach Greg Popovich (4-1). Tim Duncan had a double-double with 24 and 12 but missed a "bunny" shot and a second chance shot off his own miss that would have tied the game late. In the losing effort, rising star Kawhi Leonard finished with 19 points and 16 boards.
