Performing arts producer JIB Productions has announced selections for its Play With Your Food programs taking place at March 5-7 at Toquet Hall, March 12 at Fairfield Theatre Company, and March 13 at Greenwich Arts Council.
Now in its 11th season, PWYF is a theater program that includes a buffet lunch and dessert, short-play readings by professional actors, and a post-show discussion.
Performances are held from 12 - 1:30 p.m. In March, lunch will be catered by Blue Lemon Restaurant at Toquet Hall, Spic and Span for the production at FTC, and Le Pain Quotidien in Greenwich.
In Westport and Fairfield, productions will include Its About Forgiveness, a comedy written by Albi Gorn, which revolves around a unique husband-and-wife dynamic.
“This production will feature the talents of a real-life husband-and-wife team, Patricia Kalember and Daniel Gerroll, of Weston,” notes Artistic Director Carole Schweid. “This couple has the kind of on-stage chemistry that we pray for.”
The two actors not only bring their own relationship to the stage, they bring decades of stage and screen experience. Gerroll, an Obie Award winner, recently starred in Seminar at the City Theatre in Pittsburgh. Kalember has acted on-stage as well as in prime time television programs, daytime dramas and commercials. She returned to Broadway last season in Don’t Dress for Dinner.
Also scheduled is Three Wishes by Robert Caisley. “This story – which includes an appearance by a genie -- is about the pitfalls and perils of getting what you want,” explains Schweid.
J-E-T-S, by PWYF favorite Frederick Stroppel, is a tale about marriage and football that will feature Kim Squires and Allan Zeller of Milford.
In Greenwich, productions will include Barbara’s Wedding by Daniel Stern. Written by the actor, known for his work in the Home Alone and City Slicker movies, the play is about an out-of-work television actor and his wife as they examine their own marriage in the midst of the wedding madness surrounding their famous neighbor, Barbra Streisand, who has not invited them to her elaborate Malibu nuptials.
The Lonely Impulse of Delight by Pulitzer Prize-winner (Doubt) and Academy Award- winner (Moonstruck) John Patrick Shanley will round out the program.
The 2013 Play With Your Food season concludes next month with performances at Toquet Hall set for April 2-4, FTC on April 9, and Greenwich Arts Council on April 24-25.
Tickets are priced at $43 per show and include lunch. To purchase tickets and see a complete schedule, visit www.jibproductions.org, or call the box office at (203) 293-8831 Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
