The Silvermine Arts Center’s “Signed, Sealed and Delivered” exhibition opened on February 22 and will continue until the actual event on Saturday evening, March 28, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Come view the exhibition during any Gallery hours to browse and preview the 400 plus works of art. Make a wish list for the 10” x 10” raffle. Proxies are also accepted, if you see something you want, but can’t come on the 28th.
Works available at the fundraiser come in two sizes: 4” x 6” ($50 each) and 10” x 10” (a $100 raffle ticket). Works will include paintings and drawings, prints and photographs, ceramics and sculptural wall pieces, mixed media and works on paper.
During the evening, while guests enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, Guild artist and teacher David Dunlop will serve as master of ceremonies. Join the fun--find a treasure by your favorite artist or discover someone new. The installation is a graphically beautiful display that shows the range and breadth of work from the Silvermine Guild of Artists and other area artists. It is also one of the most colorful events of the year and a great way to shake off the winter of 2015. Tickets
are $35 and can be purchased online at silvermineart.org or by calling the Silvermine Arts Center 203 966-9700 ext. 22.
How the Fundraiser Works
On the evening of Saturday, March 28th at the Silvermine Arts Center, the fundraiser begins at 5:00 pm. Arrive promptly as attendees will be free to buy the smaller 4”x 6” works. The 4” x 6” works are $50 each and those who buy three get one free. At 5:30 the raffle for the larger 10” x 10” works begins. As each number is called, that person will claim the 10” x 10” work of their choice. A $100 raffle ticket will guarantee a work of art in the 10” x 10” format.
Unlike the 4” x 6” works, which are anonymous until purchased, the 10” x 10” works will be exhibited with the names of the artists. Selected 10” x 10” pieces can be viewed on the Silvermine Arts Center’s website.
On Sunday, March 29th, any remaining works will be available to the public for purchase between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the Silvermine Galleries. There will be no admission charge for Sunday’s sale and all are welcome.
Contributing artists include—from Darien, Mary Manning; from Easton, Susan Sharp; from Greens Farms, N. W. Gibbons; from New Canaan, June Ahrens, Rosamond Berg, Lucienne Buckner, Stephanie Joyce, Constance Old, Marjorie Tomchuk and Torrance York; from Ridgefield, Suzanne Benton, Debra Schaffer; from Westport, Nina Bentley, Miggs Burroughs; from Wilton, Nash Hyon. Many other Guild members will have work available for sale.
“Signed, Sealed and Delivered” supports programs and exhibitions at the Silvermine Arts Center. Art available at this annual event is an irresistible deal for any art collector or art lover. The evening brings a dash of suspense and fun—and is a superb way to begin or grow an art collection with work by some of the most accomplished artists in the Northeast.
Silvermine Arts Center is one of the oldest artist communities in the United States. Its fiveacre campus in New Canaan, Connecticut, consists of a nationally renowned artist guild, an award-winning school of art offering classes for all ages, an arts and fine crafts shop, and a gallery offering over twenty contemporary and historic exhibitions annually. Silvermine is a non-profit organization that also offers an educational outreach program, Art Partners, and hosts lectures, performances, film screenings, and special events.
