Norwalk Senior Center is pleased to announce that it will re-open both locations (11 Allen Road & 92 Cedar Street) on Monday, June 28th with abbreviated hours & activities for the first two weeks. A full schedule will resume July 12th.
New protocols are required for staff, visitors & bus passengers to minimize the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. All activities & services require pre-registration; seniors are required to call the office and schedule an appointment 24-48 hours in advance (at 11 Allen Road 203-847-3115, at 92 Cedar Street 203-299-1500). Visitors to the inside of the Center are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and wear facial masks. All Norwalk Senior Center staff members & instructors are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Visitors to our outdoor events (annual picnic, drive-thru events & courtyard activities) are not required to be vaccinated or wear facial masks. Transportation is provided with reduced seating capacity.
The schedule of activities for the first two weeks after re-opening can be found on our website www.norwalkseniorcenter.org or within our bi-monthly newsletter, Life & Times (also available on our website – a paper copy is available for pick-up at our two sites and City Hall).
Although the Center was physically closed during the pandemic, several services were provided remotely (benefit assistance, Friendly Phone Calls, vaccine appointment assistance, Zoom exercise classes & presentations) and socially-distanced (free grocery delivery, 40 lb. food boxes, Meals on Wheels and outreach visits).
