[Norwalk, Connecticut]—[8/24/2024]—Today’s CT Book Festival Authorpalooza in Norwalk, CT, celebrates author DeMarko Avant, a 15-year-old student from Stratford Public Schools who is dually enrolled at CT State Community College. DeMarko recently published a remarkable book titled The Teenage Boss: How to Save, Budget, and Invest as a Teen. This new release aims to empower young people with essential financial literacy skills, offering practical advice on managing money effectively from an early age.
As financial literacy becomes increasingly critical for young people, The Teenage Boss provides a timely resource, addressing a gap in current educational materials. The book covers foundational topics such as budgeting, saving, and investing, tailored specifically for teenagers. By equipping students with these vital skills, the book seeks to promote responsible financial habits and prepare them for future financial independence.
“The idea for the book came from my own experiences and challenges with managing money as a teenager as well as my constant request to my parents for money,” said DeMarko. “I wanted to create a resource that makes financial concepts accessible and relatable for my peers. My hope is that this book will help other teenagers feel confident about their finances and make informed decisions.”
In conjunction with the book’s release, the family launched the Youth Money Management Initiative, a program aimed at distributing free copies of The Teenage Boss to local students. This initiative reflects the growing recognition of the importance of financial education and seeks to provide all young people with the tools they need to succeed.
