Prospect Avenue also has a distinct place in the town’s history as its first subdivision, laid out in 1867 and quickly attracting wealthy and sophisticated newcomers. "The prospects are that Darien is about to awake from its long sleep," wrote the Norwalk Gazette in anticipation of this milestone.
