Geoffrey Morris publisher of Ridgefield Magazine is Spelling Bee Champ!

Geoffrey Morris, one of 14 spelling contestants in The First Annual Town Spelling Bee to benefit The Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association takes home first prize, a BMW for a weekend (courtesy of BMW of Ridgefield), and bragging rights as Ridgefield's best speller.

It was touch and go at the end with Morris neck and neck against Ridgefield School Superintendent Deborah Low. Morris, when asked how to spell woebegone, calls on his lifeline who correctly spells the word. Low is then asked to spell supplicate and stumbles making Morris the spelling champ!

Bee Highlights:

  • Dr. David Pazer of Family Medical Associates is the first contestant out and goes home with...you guessed it- a dictionary.
  • Chris Nolan of The Ridgefield Library wins a de-stress massage from Adam Broderick for raising the most funds for the RVNA.
  • First Selectman, Rudy Marconi is asked how to spell Schlumberger (he gets it right) and Low is presented with the challenge of spelling Snowtober.
  • The Hot Dog Man calls on Grandma, his lifeline, to save him. She does just that with the spelling of desirable.
  • First Selectman Rudy Marconi was in the final 4 until Inoculate got him.

Until next year...
