Ridgefield resident Valerie Jordan-Carey has died at the age of 51

Valerie Beth Jordan-Carey, 51 of Ridgefield, wife of Thomas P. Carey died surrounded by her loving family at her home on Thursday, July 5, 2012.

Valerie was born in Homestead, FL, May 24, 1961, daughter of Harriett (Polin) Jordan of Boynton Beach, FL and the late Wallace Jordan.

As a child, she resided for a short time with her family in New Jersey and then relocated to Westport, CT she attended local schools and graduated from Staples High School with the Class of 1979. She later attended Boston University and graduated from California State University at Long Beach with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Mrs. Carey was a self-employed business consultant.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past eighteen years coming from California, she loved music, especially the concerts in the park and playing tennis at Ridgefield High School.  Valerie played the guitar and wrote lyrics to her own songs and music, occasionally playing open mic nights and at the Georgetown street fair.

In addition to her husband, Tom of twenty-six years and mother, Harriett Jordan, Valerie is survived by 3 children, Megan, Ryan and Tyler Carey and dear friend, Gary Teachout and his son, Devin.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT on Saturday July 7th at 4 P.M.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home after 3 P.M.

Burial will take place on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 1 PM in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
