Emmy® Award-winner Joyce Behar of The View will tell it her way at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, September 14

                                  Daytime Emmy® Award-winner Joy Behar of The View on ABC is among today’s leading comedic talents. Whether performing standup or interviewing politicians and artists, Joy Behar is an original and a leading woman both on stage and screen. This multi-talented comedian, writer, actress and talk show anchor is coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse for a night of fun and laughter on Friday, September 14, at 8 p.m.  As only Joy can do, it will be a show packed with humor, political satire, funny stories about The View and her interviews with celebs and politicians.

                    Armed with an M.A. in English education from SUNY at Stony Brook, Ms. Behar originally began a career in teaching. She then set out to pursue comedy professionally and immediately received bookings from such famous New York clubs as Caroline’s and Catch a Rising Star. She went on to win three MAC Awards and a CableACE Award.

                    Ms. Behar hosted The Joy Behar Show on HLN, which featured newsworthy guests and current events. Ms. Behar had a popular radio call-in show on WABC, where she discussed politics with a deadly humorous bent. Her film appearances include Hall Pass, directed by the Farrelly Brothers, Cookie, with Peter Falk, This Is My Life, directed by Nora Ephron, and Woody Allen’s Manhattan Murder Mystery.  She had a successful run in the off-Broadway hit The Food Chain, earning rave reviews in the starring role, as well as in the critically acclaimed The Vagina Monologues.

The recipient of the 2010 GLAAD “Excellence in Media Award”, Ms. Behar was honored for her visible understanding of the LGBT community (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender). She took home her first Daytime Emmy® Award in 2009 for “Outstanding Talk Show Host” for The View.  

   Adding to her list of accomplishments is Joy’s New York Times bestseller children’s book Sheetzucacapoopoo: Max Goes to the Dogs (2009) as well as Joy Shtick or What Is the Existential Vacuum and Does It Come with Attachments?.
