On Friday, October 26, at 8 p.m., it’s a night of jazz inspiration when Platinum award-winning jazz fusion artists Spyro Gyra perform hits from their albums Carnaval, Catching the Sun, Morning Dance, Free Time and more. Matt Savage, the young autistic jazz piano prodigy, is the special guest. Matt’s highly anticipated album, Welcome Home, was released in 2010. From the country to the city to concerts around the world, Matt continues his journey as an extraordinarily talented jazz composer, performer and pianist. Enhancing the Evening of Wine & Jazz is a No. 109 Cheese & Wine tasting event along with the fine art of Kevin Stevens in the lobby at 7:15 p.m. Piccolo Pizza and Jazzeria (24 Prospect St., Ridgefield) is offering a free glass of wine at dinner the night of the show when tickets/stubs are presented.
Spyro Gyra has a Platinum and two Gold albums to their credit. They have performed more than five thousand shows and released some twenty-nine albums, gaining Grammy® nominations for each of their last four, with sales exceeding ten million. This year marks thirty-five years since their first album release, and 2014 will be their forty-year celebration. It is said that their style of jazz is happy and infectious.
