Award Winning Comedian Steven Wright Comes To The Ridgefield Playhouse

Critics call him the Seinfeld of standup with a humor that borders on insanity, as he is quick to acknowledge, and he talks about nothing, yet it seems to be about everything. Steven Wright is a master of dry wit one-liners and a multimedia performance artist. He has an Academy Award Winner and Grammy® nomination and some 20 films to his credit.  Wright’s 1985 HBO show was one of their longest running and most requested comedy specials. This talented comedian/actor/screenwriter will bring his signature dry wit to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, June 5, at 8 p.m. A complimentary wine tasting by Benziger Family Winery will take place in the lobby at 7 p.m. This event is part of the Benziger Family Winery Theater & Comedy Series. Following his HBO special, Wright built a cult-like eclectic following of “hip” and savvy fans. He had a recurring role in the hit television sitcom Mad About You starring Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser.  In 2008, Wright was inducted into the Boston Comedy Hall of Fame and in 2005 was voted one of the top 50 comedy acts by fellow comedians.
