National Nursing Home Week, which begins May 12th through 18th, gives people a chance to recognize the contribution of the healthcare professionals in the skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting and celebrate the patients and residents they care for. Every day, doctors, nurses and clinical staff provide leadership, innovation and advocacy to meet the healthcare need of patients. This year, the American Health Care Association’s national theme is ‘Team Care: Everyone Pitches In!’. This observance is a perfect opportunity to show of support and respect for the special individual in our community and the staff who provide care or support services.
Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, located at 642 Danbury Road (Rte 7) in Ridgefield, is holding many events this week geared towards residents, staff and family members to celebrate the care, respect and appreciation for each other. The events will start off with the annual Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, with many entertainers, activities, and even a caricature artist planned during the week. The community is encouraged to take time out of their week to do something special for folks who are in long-term residence or recovering in short-term rehabilitation. Notes of encouragement to show others care or other tokens of appreciation are welcome throughout the week and will be displayed for residents and staff to see. If you are interested in volunteering during the year or giving of a special talent, please feel free to contact Thora Perkins, Director of Therapeutic Rehabilitation at Laurel Ridge, at 203-438-8226. Thank you for your continued support!
