GOV. MALLOY: GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE TO PARTICIPATE IN CONNECTICUT OPEN HOUSE DAY
Residence will be Open for Public Tours from 10am-2pm on Saturday, June 8
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Governor’s Residence will be among the destinations participating in the state’s annual Connecticut Open House Day. The Residence will be open to the public for tours on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
“Connecticut Open House Day provides a great opportunity for residents and tourists alike to take advantage of the fantastic attractions we have in the state,” Governor Malloy said. “We have nearly 200 destinations located all throughout the state participating this year such as museums, galleries, theaters, vineyards, shops and historic properties. I encourage residents to visit the state’s official tourism website at CTvisit.com to view the list of participants and special incentives being offered throughout the day on Saturday.”
The Governor’s Residence is located at 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford. Docents will be available for tours, and visitors will be able to enjoy Italian ice served on the patio. Information on the history of the Connecticut Governor’s Residence can be found on the Governor’s website.
In 2012, the State of Connecticut launched its Still Revolutionary tourism campaign, which tells the story of Connecticut’s deep roots in the founding of this country and its continued spirit of innovation.
Travel and tourism activities in Connecticut generate $11.5 billion annually in economic activity and are responsible for 110,000 jobs. The sector saw a 3.9% employment growth in 2012.
