Police Blotter: DUI, Larceny, Suspended License

On Wednesday, January 8 at approximately 4:30 p.m. a 62-year-old Columbus, Ohio man turned himself into Ridgefield Police headquarters after learning there was a warrant for his arrest. The suspect was charged with First Degree Larceny and held overnight until court the next morning since he was unable to post a $50,000.00 cash bond.

On Wednesday, January 8 at approximately 4:58 p.m. Ridgefield Police Officers responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at Danbury Road near Parks and Rec. An investigation revealed that one of the operators, a 62-year-old Ridgefield man was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was placed under arrest for DUI and charged with Following Too Closely. Both vehicles sustained moderated damage and both were towed from the scene.

On Friday, January 10 at 12:40 a.m. Ridgefield Police Officers received a cell phone call of an erratic operator traveling on Barrack Hill Road. Officers responded and observed a 54-year-old Ridgefield man operating erratically. The suspect was given a standardized field sobriety test, which he failed. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Failure to Drive Right.

On Sunday, January 12 at approximately 9:10 a.m. Ridgefield Police pulled over a motor vehicle traveling southbound on Danbury Road at a rate of speed 22 miles over the 40 mph posted. Ridgefield Police charged the 23-year-old Bethel woman with Operating Under a Suspended License and Speeding.

On Monday, January 13 at approximately 12:35 p.m. Ridgefield Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on George Washington Hwy. Vehicle # 1, driven by a 25-year-old Northfield woman, stopped for a vehicle entering the roadway. When vehicle #1 came to a complete stop she was struck from behind by vehicle #2, driven by a 35-year-old Danbury man. The operator of vehicle #2 was given a warning for Failure to Keep Proper Distance. Minor injuries were reported, one car was towed with extensive damage, but no one was transported for medical attention.
