A foot therapy station, boys' changing room, and a bright, airy and comfortable student lounge are just some of the highlights of the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance's new home at 440 Main Street (formerly the Gap).

Finally housed under one roof large enough to accommodate three studios, the students, faculty and staff have ample space to collaborate and create a true dance community. The students have enjoyed their new space, particularly the student lounge. "The student lounge is really nice," said Nell Walton, a sixth grade dance student who takes ballet, jazz and modern dance. "I think it is great that we have so much space and I like being able to have a changing room." Students have been snacking, doing homework and spending time with friends before or between classes. While still maintaining its Main Street hometown feel, the new space simultaneously reads "professional" and "inviting" and is the perfect space that is most conducive to the creative flow one expects from a highly regarded dance education center.

During the fall, RCD produced two informal concerts in their new performance space and The Nutcracker at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Guest artist instructors included Principal ballerina Violeta Angelova, New York Theatre Ballet's Artistic Director Diana Byer and Broadway star Lindsay Wood. The Spring Semester brings Ryoko Kudo of The Jose Limon Dance Company and Jennifer Golonka of Luminary Dance Project to work with students. Former staff Physical Therapist for New York City Ballet and Paul Taylor Dance Company will join RCD to provide on-site physical therapy services to dancers.
