Ridgefield's Yoga Shala to Offer Free Om for Life™ Yoga Classes for Cancer Survivors
Starting Saturday, March 1st, cancer survivors in Ridgefield and surrounding communities will have access to a complimentary 12-week series of Om for Life™ yoga classes designed just for them, thanks to a new partnership between the CT Challenge and the Yoga Shala located at 49 Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield.
Om for Life™ introduces cancer survivors to the therapeutic benefits of yoga. The CT Challenge is providing a grant to the Yoga Shala for the program, which will run Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. through May 17th. Om for Life™ is a program of the CT Challenge, a non-profit devoted to helping cancer survivors rebuild, improve and prolong their lives through fitness, nutrition, community support and lifestyle programs tailored to their unique needs. It is a natural extension of the wellness programs offered by the CT Challenge Center for Survivorship in Fairfield, CT, the only standalone survivorship center in the country and an incubator for best practices that will set the model for survivorship programs nationwide.
The class will be taught by Yoga Shala Instructor Janell Breck, a registered yoga teacher RYT 200 and by Val, a registered yoga teacher E-RYT 500. Both are also certified CT Challenge Om for Life instructors. You do not need to be a member of the Yoga Shala to participate in the Om for Life™ program.
