The Rotary Club of Ridgefield awarded a $10,000 scholarship to Ridgefield High School scholar, Laura Franklin, which was presented to Miss Franklin at the high school's award ceremony on Thursday, June 5. Rotarian Rainer Gonet was on hand to present the award, which is the largest scholarship award presented by the club. "The Rotary Club had a very difficult time this year in selecting one worthy high school student to receive this impactful scholarship award. However, Laura's service to the community through numerous leadership roles and extra-curricular activities made her stand above her outstanding peers as the embodiment of the Rotary motto of 'Service About Self," said Mr. Gonet about Miss Franklin. Rotary Club President, Joe Kreitz stated "We are extremely proud of this remarkable young woman and we look forward to the great work she will do in her undergraduate career."

Since 1941, the Ridgefield Rotary Club has been committed to service above self. For more information about the club's community service projects and its events, visit the website at http://www.ridgefieldrotary.org.
