On Friday, October 17th, at 7:30 p.m., The Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society “Family Film Series” presents ‘a fish story’, an award-winning, uplifting, feel good feature film with a moral compass. It’s all about letting go and carries an uplifting message. ‘a fish story’ is a based on a true story about the Canadian family of actor/writer/ producer Sam Robertsand the death of his father. Screenwriter Roberts set out to make a movie to honor his father and in the process reveals truths about hope, love, guilt, faith and redemption. This event is sponsored by The Ridgefield Press.
“It’s not a religious film,” he says, “but a spiritual one without any gratuitous sex, violence, blood, nudity, or language – a rarity in terms of today’s movie standards.” The logline of ‘a fish story’ says it simply: “After his sudden
death, a devoted father’s search for heaven brings him back to his distraught family and his wilderness fishing camp for a few precious days in the body of a wanted man.” Actor Sam Roberts co-stars with an excellent ensemble cast of noted Canadian and American character actors including Patrick Collins, Eddie McClintock, Jayne Heitmeyer, Jaime Spilchuk, Steven Yaffee, Jordyn Negri, Angela Asher, Carl Marotte, E.J. Carroll and Timothy Webber.
