Devoted to her faith & family, Sandra Reyes dies after Casagmo fire

SANDRA Y. REYES, 77 of Ridgefield, CT. passed away, peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital at 1:20pm. Saturday, April 25th 2015. She was the proud mother of 5 boys, 2 girls and grandmother to 12 grand children.

Sandra was born in the Bronx , NY August 21st, 1937 to civil rights activist Wayne Wright Carrington and Florence Carrington from Trinidad and Tobago. She was the eldest of her two brothers Wayne and Michael. At the age of 9 Sandra and her two brothers went to the island of Trinidad to live. She attended Holy Name Convent and was schooled by nuns, there she began her journey as a devote Christian. She then decided at a young age that she either wanted to become a nun or get married and have many children. Well God decided to grant her one of her request by making her a mother of 7.

At 15 Sandra and her brothers returned to the states to live with her family in Mamaroneck, NY. She graduated from Bellows High School and then enrolled herself in Nursing Assistant School in New York City. Upon turning 21 she married Joseph C. Reyes and created a family of her own to raise. They moved into a beautiful house in Katonah, NY. Sandra was always a servant of God taking care of the priest of the St. Mary’s Parish in Katonah. She later worked as a physician’s assistant for nearly 30 years aiding patients.

Helping others and giving back was very important to Sandra. She was always volunteering, as well as, donating her time and money to various charities. Foundations like meals on wheels, children’s hospitals and feeding the poor were just a few of the many wonderful things Sandra did to help others.

Sandra spent much of her last days committed to St. Mary’s Church in Ridgefield, Ct. as a devote catholic and a die hard follower of Saint Padre Pio. She would tell everyone weather she knew you or not that “If you want something to just ask Padre Pio and he will tell Jesus for you.” Sandra spent every Tuesday at 2am no matter rain, hail, sleet or snow watching the Holy Eucharist at St. Mary’s. She loved the Lord so much that she would often tell her children how she couldn’t wait to go meet Jesus and Padre Pio. She finally got her wish and now everyone she touched including her 7 kids and 12 grandchildren have a beautiful guardian angel watching over them. She will be dearly missed. We love you Sandy.
