ANNA MARIA MARCON

Anna Maria (Giollo) Marcon, a Ridgefield resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 30, 2015. She was born on October 23, 1931, in Bessica Di Loria, Italy to Antonio Giollo and Angelina (Tuffon) Giollo.

Anna Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Italo A. Marcon. She leaves behind her son Roger Marcon and his wife Susan, and her two grandsons, Roger Anthony and Matthew Stephen, who meant the world to her.

Anna Maria comes from a large family and is predeceased by her brothers, Gianni and Luigino, and older sister Elsa. She leaves behind her surviving siblings, Danilo and his wife Maria Luisa, Valeriano and his wife Maria, Romeo and his wife Bruna, Orazia and her husband Sergio, and many nieces and nephews, in Italy, France and Switzerland.

Anna Maria came to the U.S. in 1957, after having married her love, Italo, in 1956. The family first settled in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and moved to the Bronx in 1965.

Anna Maria was devoted to her family and Church and worked as a seamstress where she would meet many of her life long friends. She became a citizen in 1961 after attending school in the evenings. She mastered the English language and was an avid reader, who frequented the local library with her husband weekly. Anna Maria continued her Italian legacy with her marvelous cooking skills, knitting and the love to sing and dance to Italian music while she was cooking.

Anna Maria had an outgoing personality and enjoyed being with family and friends, she loved nature and long walks to Orchard Beach.

Above all Anna Maria loved her grandsons, Roger and Matthew; they always made her smile and laugh.

We would like to thank Dr. Carol–Ann Galban and Danbury Regional Hospice Program, and will be forever grateful to her wonderful home health aides Lorna Mais and Stroma Rodney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 3, 2015 at 10:15 am at St. Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Regional Hospice and Home Care Center for Comfort Care and Healing, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810.
