Each day 500 people are diagnosed with a brain tumor. Sadly, this unthinkable scenario happened to Debbie Haughney's good friend and local mom, Andrea Lyons last year.
Debbie wanted to find a way to do something so she assembled a team to participate in the American Brain Tumor Association's (ABTA) BT5K on Sunday, November 8th in New York City. She calls her team the "A" Team in honor of her friend and mother of two. "Andrea is inspiring. She is a true warrior and it's impossible to simply stand by feeling helpless. I want to show Andrea not only how proud we all are of her but also help raise money for ABTA research."
Anyone interested in learning more about Debbie's "A" Team and the American Brain Tumor Association’s BT5K Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk can visit her donation page at here. The money raised by the BT5K will provide critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.
Debbie has further broadened her support by spearheading rides dedicated to Andrea at JoyRide Ridgefield. JoyRide has been a place where they have both enjoyed indoor cycling. The rides will provide a way for those to show their support even if they cannot travel to NY for the walk/run. "Debbie has created two "Warrior" rides in honor of Andrea," said Amy Pal, Co-Owner of JoyRide. "Riders are invited to come participate in the 50 minute cycling classes where the playlists will be inspiring and uplifting, as a tribute to Andrea's fierce determination and positive attitude."
The "Warrior" rides will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at 5:30am with instructor Amanda Grant and on Wednesday, November 4th at 3:30pm with instructors Amanda Shortt at JoyRide Ridgefield at 62 Danbury Road. Booking bikes in advance is recommended at joyrideridgefield.com/events or by calling 203.403.6874.
