WCSU Colonials freshman first baseman Michael DeAngelo passes away in car accident
Early Wednesday morning, Michael DeAngelo, a member of the Western Connecticut State University baseball team, died in a car accident.
WCSU Colonials said that DeAngelo, a native of East Haven, was a standout first baseman for the Yellow Jackets. "He was a three-sport captain, an All-SCC selection and recipient of the Levi Jackson Award while at EHHS," they said.
Western Connecticut State University announced that they will hold a vigil to honor the life of DeAngelo tonight beginning at 7pm outside Newbury Hall, Midtown campus.
"The Colonials and Head Coach Johnny Susi will honor Michael's life prior to a game this week when they play either John Jay College on Thursday or University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday," WCSU wrote in a Press Release.
FOX 61 reported that the accident happened near exit 70 around 1:00 a.m on Wednesday morning and 19 year old DeAngelo of East Haven, pronounced dead at the scene. He was alone in the car.
