A Memorial Fund benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has been set up on behalf of Bob Sommer, former Ridgefielder and longtime General Manager of Silver Spring Country Club who passed away today, Wednesday, April 12 after a long and valiant battle with leiomyosarcoma.

Bob was the General Manager of Silver Spring Country Club for more than 30 years; earning the respect of colleagues and becoming a trusted friend to Club members.

The family writes on JustGive, "Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Monica, and three children: Rick of Folly Beach, South Carolina, Pat of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Beth of Denver Colorado. Bob also was an extraordinarily proud and loving grandfather of five beautiful children: Charlotte and Evelyn; Hazel and Remington; and Claire.  He also leaves his sister Betsy and brother Tom, who both loved and admired their little brother. He will be missed by nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Colorado and by his many friends in Ridgefield, Connecticut."

A Memorial Fund has been created by the Sommer family on JustGive.org and proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Click HERE to make a donation.
