RA Student and Ridgefield Resident named one of 7 All Americans in Wrestling

For Ridgefield Academy second grader, Cole Desiano, wrestling is a huge part of his life and this year has proven to be his most successful season yet.
Cole started at the town level last year with Ridgefield Youth Wrestling and added Beast Training, an elite wrestling club in Danbury where he also trains and competes. This past weekend, Cole traveled to Salisbury, Maryland for the MAWA (Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association) Eastern National Championships for a two-day competition.
In front of 5000 spectators, 1400 wrestlers attempted to make it to the second day of the tournament and claim the status of All American. Cole was one of those 1400 but after losing his first match on Day One, he had to wrestle single elimination matches in order to make Day Two. On the last match of the day, Cole grinded out a 2-1 victory to make the Sunday medal rounds and was awarded the title of All American. Cole finished 7th and was one of seven All Americans from the state of Connecticut.
Congratulations Cole! The entire RA community looks forward to following your success as you grow in this sport you enjoy so much!
