Ridgefield Writers Conference Adds Distinguished Panelist

The Ridgefield Writers Conference is pleased to announce the addition of distinguished publishing, marketing and editing executive Jim Childs to the agent, editor and publisher panel of its sixth annual conference Fri., Sept. 21, at the Ridgefield Library from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In keeping with the theme of inspiration and imagination, explored through the author-editor relationship, Jim Childs will add his extensive experience with Globe Pequot Press, Rowman & Littlefield, Time, Inc., Books Time-Warner, The Taunton Press, John Wiley & Sons, HarperBusiness, and Prentice-Hall. Also on the panel are literary agent Marilyn Allen of Allen O’Shea Literary Agency, HarperCollins senior editor Tamar Mays, Disney Publications editor Collin Hosten, and Word for Words book editor Adele Annesi.

This year’s keynote address is by award-winning author Rachel Basch, author of The Listener, a finalist for the 2016 CLMP Firecracker Award. A MacDowell Colony Fellow and winner of the William Van Wert prize, Basch teaches in Fairfield University's MFA Program and Wesleyan University' Graduate Liberal Studies Program. This year’s conference also features readings by guest authors Pete Nelson, Sonya Huber, and Chris Belden. The guest publisher is Woodhall Press.

The author/editor seminar workshops include nonfiction and fiction writing for young readers with Pete Nelson and Tamar Mays; nonfiction, creative nonfiction and memoir, with Sonya Huber and Colin Hosten; and short and long fiction with Chris Belden and Adele Annesi.
