Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT BMW of Ridgefield!

Three questions with Ed McGill, owner of BMW of Ridgefield.

Why did you start your business?

After owning and operating a big, diverse group of companies in Westport called Marketing Corporation of America for many years, my partner Jim McManus and I sold the business (he was the founder and big owner, I was the CFO and little owner). Jim suggested that the Dealership business would be a great second career for me and his son Mitch. And I would send him lots of checks as he cheered us on!

We acquired BMW of Bridgeport first in 2002, and with that success, acquired BMW of Ridgefield in 2008. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary in Ridgefield.

Best selling product/service?

The highest volume BMW’s these days are X5’s, X3’s, 3 and 5 series sedans, but we also sell the most M products of any BMW Dealership in Connecticut and Westchester.

How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?

Each store has over 100 Associates, and we have interns that have included a Prospector, high school and college students, and regularly employ youths for valet and car washers and seniors for our valet services. Almost 40% of our service customers now use our pick-up and delivery service.

BMW of Ridgefield is located at 746 Danbury Road. Visit them online here.
