Congratulations to Ridgefield Youth Wrestling for their performance at the Connecticut Kids State Championships on February 24th at the Hillhouse High School Fieldhouse in New Haven.
Just qualifying for the championship is an accomplishment! The wrestlers must place top four in one of four qualifying sites around the state (Danbury, Bristol, Milford and Killingly) in order to complete in for a state title.
The Connecticut Kids State Championships brings the best competition the state has to offer and each of RYW’s sixteen wrestlers (six middle schools, ten elementary) won at least one match at the tournament. RYW had the largest group participating in the Kids State Championship since they began keeping records in 2008.
Ridgefield Youth Wrestling not only was successful at the state tournament but placed 3rd at the Western CT Elementary Championships and had five place winners at the Mighty Mite and Bantam State Championship in Stamford!
The future of Ridgefield wrestling is looking bright!
