Comedian Christine O’Leary Launches Stand-Up Comedy and Improv Skills for Teens Class at The Ridgefield Playhouse May 4th - June 5th

Due to overwhelming requests from the community, comedian Christine O’Leary is officially teaching a youth comedy class! Stand-up Comedy and Improv Skills for Teens will run May 4 - June 5 at The Ridgefield Playhouse. The intention is to teach young people comedy skills that are directly applicable to their various social environments. Christine will teach, demonstrate and coach all basic comedy principles as well as introductory improvisation skills to young people, ages 12-17. It’s time for your kids to stand up and try something thrilling and confidence building. Christine promises all participants the opportunity of a lifetime to perform on the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse with a graduation showcase in June! Scholarships are available through the generosity of the Beth and Bruce Becker Foundation. Classes will be held after school on Wednesdays, May 8- June 5 from 4-6pm. (Orientation is Saturday, May 4). This class is part of the Adam Broderick Salon & Spa Whole New You Series partially underwritten by Reliance Merchant Services.
Christine O’Leary, who is the Comedy Series Artistic Director at The Ridgefield Playhouse, was recently named by Curve Magazine as one of the “50 Funniest Lesbians in America.” O’Leary has worked with the top comedians in the business who have graced the stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse, including Gilbert Gottfried, Joy Behar, Susie Essman, Chevy Chase, Sinbad, Tracy Morgan and Janeane Garofalo. She’s also worked with Margaret Cho, Ian Harvie (Transparent) and headlined Long Beach Pride events with Jennifer Hudson, Indigo Girls, KC and the Sunshine Band, and more. She is an award-winning stand-up comedian, comedy teacher, comedy mentor to members of her Team Green Light comedy collective, and philanthropic auctioneer who has raised millions of dollars for multiple nonprofits in New England. Christine’s adult stand-up workshop has sold out 33 times in the past 6 years!
