COVID-19 and our store operations

First of all, we’re grateful to all of you who have continued to support us with your purchases—both in-store and online. And we thank you for your kind words, smiles, and waves as you pick up your purchases! The best part of bookselling is talking about books to our customers and hand-selling our favorites, and we look forward to the day when we can do that face-to-face again.

However, due to the small size and layout of our store (with our narrow aisles) and the nature of book buying, which does not easily allow for proper social distancing, we will not be reopening to the public on May 20th. We’ll continue to operate as we have since March 23rd: taking orders by email and phone, offering curbside pickup and shipping. We also continue to offer online buying options on our website here.

While these limited operations are not financially sustainable for us long term, we believe it’s the best thing to do for our staff, our customers, and ourselves. We feel it’s too soon for us, given the Covid-19 data for Fairfield County (as opposed to the more rural areas of our state) and our proximity to Westchester County.

We’ll be planning for our eventual re-opening, but in the meantime, please continue to buy your books, cards, puzzles and gifts from us! We’re doing our best to put new arrivals in the windows (along with every new shipment of jigsaw puzzles) and will use social media to do the same (follow us on Facebook and Instagram).

Please stay well and stay safe!
