Editor's note: we are thrilled to welcome Ridgefield resident Sara Hecht to our team! She is no stranger to HamletHub, beginning as an intern and proving her prowess for writing, editing, and social media, she has assumed greater responsibilities including working alongside HamletHub's founder, Kerry Anne Ducey in the daily operation of a state-wide digital communication "hub".

Hello! My name is Sara Hecht and I am a new employee at HamletHub. I first started writing for HamletHub in 2018, submitting a piece about the Keebler Elf house which had popped up on my street. Since then I have written several more pieces on the topic and worked as an intern for the summer before my senior year of high school at Sacred Heart Greenwich. During this internship, I created the Ridgefield HamletHub Instagram, created a short video series called “Friday Funday,” as well as writing pieces on Star Park, the cutting down of the 100-year-old Elm trees on Main Street, and other happenings around town.

My time at HamletHub inspired me to go out for the school paper at Villanova University where I became a Staff Writer for the Culture section of The Villanovan – a student-led newspaper established in 1916. For this publication I focused on the school’s performing arts productions, writing about the school’s acapella groups and the student-led musical theatre shows. Additionally, I wrote the first article for a new series called “Culture Clash” which took a “controversial” question and had two students battle it out. The question I posed was “Does Rhode Island Deserve Statehood? and it instigated quite an entertaining discussion between a native Rhode Islander and Massachusettsan.

Now, with one year of college under my belt, I have returned as Mrs. Ducey’s apprentice, in a way, and have already published several pieces about the Black Lives Matter movement, Pride Month, RHS’ Class of 2020 and their graduation plans. I love working at HamletHub because I am given the opportunity to write about topics that matter and that I care about deeply for the town that I grew up in.

Some of my other interests include the performing arts, reading, water coloring, and playing for the club badminton team at Villanova. I have performed in 20 musicals and assisted in directing 4 junior theatre productions since the age of seven. My favorites productions include Phantom of the Opera (Christine Daaé), Les Miserables (Cosette), Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), and Annie (Annie). I also studied voice with Sarah Phisterer of Wiremill Academy for 5 years.
