Back by popular demand, it’s Wine & Jazz Series Night at The Ridgefield Playhouse when David Sanborn headlines on Wednesday, February 8, at 8 p.m. Renowned saxophonist David Sanborn has a new album Only Everything. He’s a six-time Grammy® award-winner with nine Gold/Platinum albums that span rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, pop and jazz. The event starts with an international wine tasting from Mélangé Fine Wines and Spirits at 7 p.m. in the lobby.  Piccolo Pizza and Jazzeria (24 Prospect St., Ridgefield) is offering a free glass of house wine with dinner when tickets are shown. This event is part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series.

Few musicians are so closely identified with their instrument that they become icons, like David Sanborn.  His most recent album Only Everything, the 24th solo album in Sanborn’s extraordinary career, blends instrumental pop and R&B with the powerful vocals of James Taylor and Joss Stone. Sanborn became famous for his standout solo on David Bowie’s 1975 hit “Young Americans”. Sanborn’s matchless tone has bolstered performances by the esteemed likes of Eric Clapton, the Eagles, the Rolling Stones, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder. Sanborn is one of the most commercially successful saxophonists in the world.
