Dave was born in Woonsocket, RI on January 2, 1959; a son of the late Bernard and Lucille (Boucher) Lussier. Growing up in Woonsocket with his brothers Alan and Bob, Dave enjoyed playing ice hockey, fishing, tinkering with a 1949 Ford truck, and rooting for the Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox teams. He met the love of his life, Sheri, at Grinnell Fire Protection where they were trained to be fire protection designers. They married in North Smithfield, RI and together they loved to travel, ski, snowshoe, golf, camp, fish, and play all sorts of card games together with friends and family, where Dave could be a bit competitive.
Dave and Sheri enjoyed volunteering with Guiding Eyes for the Blind as “puppy raisers” raising eight remarkable Labrador Retrievers some of whom are helping guide visually-impaired people, working with Autistic children, sniffing accelerants in fire investigations, or locating contraband cell phones in prisons.
A Ridgefield resident since 1992, Dave was a Fire Protection Engineer for 29 years at AltieriSeborWieber LLC consulting engineers of Norwalk, CT. He was passionate about his work and enjoyed the challenges of designing fire suppression systems in all types of buildings and museums such as the Rose Auditorium at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. Dave enjoyed collaborating with his co-workers who were like family to him.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield and volunteered on several mission trips including H.O.M.E. in Orland, ME where he was nicknamed “Daddy Dave” by his team after a trip to McDonalds following a long workday when a clerk mistook the teenagers for Dave’s sons. He also assisted Habitat for Humanity in Guatemala and Honduras, and locally repaired homes for Americares. Dave also served as a past Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 431 of Ridgefield where he enjoyed year-round camping with the scouts and mentoring many boys including his son Adam, attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
Dave is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sheri and their children: Adam of Pittsburgh, PA and Kristen of Houston, TX. In addition, he is survived by two brothers: Alan and Robert Lussier of Rhode Island, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family residing throughout the country.
