Ridgefield boys Distance Medley Relay are national champions! Team of Liam Carcich, Ben Mickool, Amit Markos, and Charlie King bring home the gold with a time of 10:01.72.
In mid-June, we shared the good news that Ridgefield High School Track and Field team qualified for the Nike Track Nationals at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon!
Fresh from Oregon, today, Larry Dunn, co-president of RHS Cross Country and Track Booster Club. reported that on the heels of a third-place finish on Wednesday, the Ridgefield Boys Track Team did it again – this time in the Distance Medley Relay!
Dunn said, "Ben Mickool, Liam Carcich, Charlie King and Amit Markos not only blew away their competition, placing FIRST in the nation and earning them ALL-AMERICAN honors AGAIN, but they did it in RHS record and Nationals record time! Liam cruised 1,200 meters (3 times around the track) in a crisp 3:06, followed by Amit running a 400 meter (1 lap around the track) in a remarkable 49 seconds, with Ben running 800 meters directly behind in 1:57--finished off by Charlie running a mile in 4:08. Their combined time of 10:01 (2.5 miles total) is nothing short of impressive, and a huge congratulations is well deserved for these athletes and their coach, Bryan Kovalsky, for this incredible feat! Go Ridgefield!"

John Goetz, RHS Girls Cross Country & Track head coach shared this "fun fact": Ben Mickool‘s brother Ian Mickool was also on a national champion DMR for Ridgefield in 2016. Today’s relay broke the 2016 school record. Very kool!
