Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Gofer Ice Cream!
Three questions with Eric Barrow from Gofer Ice Cream.
Why did you start your business?
During the pandemic, my kids had to be homeschooled and were having a tough go at it. They were miserable, missed their friends, and had had it with mommy and daddy teaching class. So to get through a tough day, my wife and would take the girls out for ice cream. It was one of the few activities we could treat them with.
So the more ice cream we got them, the more my wife and I thought, independently mind you, that the frozen dessert business was something to seriously consider. The industry I’ve been in for over two decades, sports media, has become so volatile and negative, I was looking to make a change.
What is your best-selling product/service?
I’d say our Graham Slam flavor hard ice cream. It’s been a home run (I had to!) in Ridgefield.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
About five or six including CVS, Planet Pizza, Dimitri’s Diner, Stop and Shop, Fairfield County Bank, Ace hardware, Squash’s Office Supply, and Party Depot.
Gofer Ice Cream is located at 407 Main Street in Ridgefield. Visit Gofer Ice Cream online here, and make sure to check out their Facebook page as well!
HamletHub thanks Fairfield County Bank for making our Why Small Businesses Matter series possible!
