Cover Image for Ridgefield Public Schools COVID-19 Update: CDC Guidelines and At-home Testing Kits

Ridgefield Public School Superintendent Dr. Susie Da Silva sent a note to the school community regarding the new CDC guidelines regarding isolation/quarantine due to COVID. In addition, Governor Lamont has announced that towns and schools will be provided with at-home tests and N-95 masks. RPS will send details once they have more information on a distribution plan.

Please read her complete message below.

By now, you likely know that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has updated its isolation/quarantine guidelines with respect to COVID-19, you can find the update here.   One of the primary changes within this update is a shortened quarantine period for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases.  More specifically,  we learned that the CT Department of Health (DPH) will follow these same guidelines pertaining to asymptomatic positive cases.  You can find the CDC  FAQ  shared by CT DPH here.

Most importantly, as of the date of this letter, we have not received an update from the CSDE as to whether or not (or how) these updates will apply to schools. If we do not hear back from CSDE with an update on how these CDC changes will apply to schools by Sunday evening, then RPS will continue to follow our current quarantine protocols as prescribed by the CSDE. Should you have individual questions related to COVID-19, you may email Aaron Crook at acrook@ridgefieldps.net, and you can expect to hear back by Sunday evening.

Governor Lamont has also announced that towns and schools will be provided with at-home tests, and N-95 masks.  Once we receive further information on the distribution plan, we will again communicate to the district community.
