Cannon Ridge DAR Launch Party, Historian Jack Sanders Receives Proclamation

Cannon Ridge, Connecticut Daughters of the American Revolution’s newest chapter, held a launch party at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center Garden House on April 10th to celebrate its formation in December.
Twenty-six charter members of the chapter led by Organizing Regent Andrea Beebe bestowed awards on representatives of Keeler Tavern, the Ridgefield Historical Society and historian Jack Sanders, received a proclamation read by First Selectman Rudy Marconi and hosted DAR members from around the state.
In a highlight of the program, Ridgefield High School student Ashley Collins sang a moving rendition of the national anthem. Connecticut DAR State Regent Christy Hendrie and Stephen Taylor, President, Connecticut Society, Sons of the American Revolution spoke, and greetings were read from Congressman Jim Himes, State Senator Will Haskell, and State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
