Summer Smiles in Ridgefield

Enjoying summer days close to home, at events and venues unique to your hometown, are some of the most memorable experiences in life (plus, you can get cozy in your own bed at the end of a fun-filled day).

Our series “What makes you crack a smile” highlights the local people, places and events that make our community an enjoyable place to live.

Get your flip-flops and summer ON and find out what makes Alyssa Alt crack a smile!

Tell us about your favorite summertime destination in Ridgefield

Working at Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield (BGCR). Being able to watch our swim team compete against other pool leagues in town and seeing smiles and cheers when we walk to town for lunch every Thursday. Nothing can replace the pure joy and excitement you see on kids' faces every day.

What community event do you look forward to attending? How does it make you feel?

I’m looking forward to attending Adult Camp night at BGCR this November. Being able to be “Camp” photographer for the night & being able to watch adults get to have a little fun and be kids again!

What summer activity in Ridgefield makes you crack a smile?

In-town lunch with BGCR, especially the Hot Dog Man kids. Nothing beats seeing a group of kids walking single file up the road to Ridgefield's very own Hot Dog Man chanting “Hot” “Dog Man!” Then of course getting a sweet treat at Deborah Ann’s afterward.

Do you have a cherished memory of summer in Ridgefield?

Ridgefield Library Summer Reading Program (and getting free ice cream coupons to Mr. Shane’s!), Camp at BGCR, and family vacations.
